Robin Guadagnini | Breast Cancer SurvivorFayetteville, Ark. Fayetteville-area patients, physicians, advocacy groups and community leaders, in partnership with the Access to Medical Imaging Coalition (AMIC) and the Ozark Affiliate – Susan G. Komen for the Cure, today said that Medicare-cost cutting measures proposed by the Obama Administration would devastate patient access to diagnostic imaging services, particularly in rural areas of the country.
In Arkansas, where residents face health challenges such as a high rate of cancer deaths (11th highest in the country) , a high rate of lung cancer (5th in the country) and an above average rate of breast cancer deaths (18th highest in the country) , restricted access to medical imaging threatens to reverse progress made in treating deadly diseases.
